Two of the Western Conference’s most scrutinized franchises are heading to the same island. The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers will both hold training camps in Hawaii from September 29 through October 3, the organizations announced. The camps run simultaneously before the two clubs meet in a preseason exhibition at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu on October 4 (4 p.m. PDT).
The Warriors will work at BYU-Hawaii after their Media Day at Chase Center on September 28. The Clippers, returning to Hawaii for the sixth consecutive time since 2017, will set up at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus following their Media Day at Intuit Dome, also September 28.
Golden State: stability in the sun
For the Warriors, Hawaii is familiar territory. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and a rebuilt supporting cast will use the five-day block to sharpen cohesion and install new wrinkles ahead of a preseason slate that includes six total games. Golden State’s remaining exhibitions after October 4 include matchups against the Lakers, Trail Blazers and Kings at Chase Center through October 16.
Clippers: rebuilding after a hammer blow
The Clippers’ sixth consecutive Hawaii camp arrives at a very different moment. Los Angeles heads to Oahu weeks after the NBA stripped it of five first-round picks spanning 2029 to 2033 and fined owner Steve Ballmer $30 million for salary cap circumvention tied to Kawhi Leonard. Head coach Tyronn Lue and his staff must build a new identity around a group that lost its cornerstone player and several future assets in a single ruling. The Clippers’ remaining preseason dates include a Canada Games matchup against Toronto in Vancouver on October 10 and a home game against Denver on October 14.
For Hawaii basketball fans, the October 4 matchup is a rare chance to see two storied Western rivals in competitive action on the island. University of Hawaii season-ticket holders had exclusive presale access from September 2; remaining tickets are publicly available.
The 2026-27 NBA regular season tips off October 24.
