Pelle Larsson is getting paid. The Miami Heat and the Swedish wing agreed to a four-year, $60 million extension, per ESPN and Yahoo Sports, locking up one of the team’s most improved players as Miami builds around two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The deal kicks in for the 2027-28 season at $13.5 million per year, with annual escalators and a mutual option for 2030-31.
From afterthought to $60 million
Larsson, 23, was taken 44th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by Houston, then sent to Miami in a three-team trade draft night. His first year showed promise — 4.6 points per game across 52 games — without fully breaking through. Year two was different.
In 2025-26, Larsson started 54 of 70 games and averaged 11.4 points, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field in 28.4 minutes a night. A switchable 3-and-D wing who runs the floor, handles the ball in transition, and hits open threes – exactly the glue guy Erik Spoelstra covets.
“He just plays the right way,” Spoelstra said of Larsson this spring. “He makes the game easier for everyone around him.”
Heat’s roster math around Giannis
The Giannis trade cost Miami four first-round picks and four players – an aggressive win-now posture. Locking up Larsson before restricted free agency next summer keeps a key piece without touching cap flexibility. Giannis Antetokounmpo (27.3 PPG, 11.8 RPG last season), Bam Adebayo, and now a locked-in Larsson form the spine of the rotation. Klay Thompson’s two-year minimum deal adds perimeter depth.
For Larsson, raised in Gothenburg, Sweden, the extension validates what Miami saw on draft night and what he proved in his breakout second season. At roughly $15 million per year average, he joins a short list of second-round picks who doubled their output and earned a nine-figure commitment before turning 24.
