Oklahoma City will take the floor tonight without Jalen Williams. The Thunder officially ruled out their All-NBA wing for Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, citing “injury management” for a hamstring that has refused to heal since the first round.

Injury Status: Jalen Williams – OUT (hamstring, injury management)
Also out: Ajay Mitchell (injury)
Game 7: May 30, 8:30 p.m. ET – Paycom Center, Oklahoma City – NBC/Peacock

A hamstring that has defined OKC’s postseason

Williams first hurt his left hamstring in Game 2 of the Thunder’s first-round series against the Phoenix Suns. He missed the next six games before returning for the Western Conference Finals. The comeback was short-lived: in WCF Game 2, he left the court after seven minutes, the hamstring flaring again. He tried once more in Game 6 (a 118-91 blowout loss) and managed 10 minutes with a single shot attempt before calling it a night.

The official injury report listed “injury management” rather than a specific diagnosis. In NBA parlance, that means the medical staff has made the call – Williams isn’t pushing to play through it. He simply cannot.

What the Thunder are missing

The numbers make the situation stark. Williams averaged 17.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in this postseason, shooting 52.7% from the field and 45.5% from three. He was Oklahoma City’s most efficient scorer and their best isolation option on both ends.

With Mitchell also sidelined, the defending champions go into the biggest game of their season down two key playmakers. The Spurs arrive with momentum from a dominant Game 6 – Victor Wembanyama controlling the paint, San Antonio’s defense smothering every OKC possession. The Thunder now have to manufacture an offense almost from scratch on their home floor, against a team that has earned every bit of this chance.

Game 7 tips off tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET at Paycom Center. NBC and Peacock carry the broadcast.
