Coming off his dominant Game 1 performance, Jalen Brunson knew the Philadelphia 76ers would have a response. They did. He went nearly nine minutes without scoring — getting his first points only from the free-throw line — and more than ten minutes before hitting his first field goal.
But when it mattered most, Brunson was the one who put the game away. He scored 8 of New York’s final 15 points in the money time, finishing with a game-high 26 points on 9-of-21 shooting (1-of-5 from three) along with 6 assists. New York held on for a 108-102 victory to take a 2-0 series lead.
« The most important thing was to stay calm, stay focused — action by action, step by step, without looking too far ahead, » Brunson explained. « You just have to stay present. »
The performance illustrated what makes Brunson so valuable: when Philadelphia adjusted and disrupted his early rhythm, the Knicks point guard simply waited, kept his composure, and delivered when the game was on the line.
